The brief was to create an educational booklet based around the subject of myths and monsters. I chose the subject of Ancient Greek mythology for my project as I had a huge interest in it as a child and always felt that it wasn’t taught to children enough in school. I feel that different types of history are forced onto children as part of a curriculum and don’t get a chance to choose a part of history they possibly would find interesting. The illustrations were kept to a colour scheme of black and terracotta as a link back to ancient greek pottery. The concertina booklet style was chosen for the purpose that it can be spread out across a floor which would make it easier to learn for a child with a parent. It’s also for the use of the augmented reality app linked with it. By using Blippar the user can scan across each illustration and on the screen of their smartphone/tablet the figure will animate in realtime, from this they can get further information and facts about their favourite characters.
